Role summary

The Technical Operations Manager for the Unified Communication team is a key member of the Business Services and Operations team within Customer Service and Operations. The Technical Operations Manager is a professional who should have the managerial and the technical experience, aptitudes and skills to manage a large team of unionized employees. The Unified Communication team is directly responsible for service assurance and provisioning for all unified communication systems.

 

Key responsibilities:
- Provide managerial direction and leadership to a group of unionized employees in the area of unified communication;
- Handle overall performance planning for the team and its members;
- Ensure the group is capable of delivering excellent support that will meet or exceed our customers' expectations;
- Take charge of managing, developing and training of individual resources within the group, following corporate guidelines;
- Manage budgets and team performance for this area of our business;
- Manage projects in these sectors.

 

Required skills and experience:
- Three to five years of staff management experience in a telecom/IP/IT operations environment;
- Knowledge and understanding of Bell Aliant's data and unified communications portfolio, and experience working in the unified communications area (major asset);
- Understanding of working relationships with Aliant's operational organizations such as Engineering, Regional Services, and Network Operations (an asset);
- Management experience in a unionized environment (an asset);
- Ability to cope effectively with change and lead others through change;
- Very strong communications skills and customer focus;
- Excellent leadership, management, facilitation and interpersonal skills;
- Strong customer advocacy skills and keen sense of accountability and responsibility;
- Self-motivating approach to sustain performance in a high-pressure environment.
- Team player who enjoys working in a highly dynamic environment.
- Keen organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.

 

Education/certifications:
- Preferably a university degree in business or commerce;
- Post-secondary studies or IT/telecommunications or operations management certification (an asset).
