The Business Unit Controllers team is seeking a motivated Manager for the Bell Mobility Business Unit.  This position is a challenging opportunity to work in one of the largest revenue generating business units in Bell Canada as well as one of the business’ growth areas.

 

The Bell Mobility BU Controllers are responsible for the integrity of the Bell Mobility financial statements. Bell Mobility Controllers support the business unit through compliance with rules and regulations surrounding internal controls (such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and ensuring the effectiveness of business processes.

 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

This role in the Controllers’ group is responsible for providing accounting policy guidance to Bell Mobility Finance & Operations teams, has accountability for working with operations to improve & maintain controls over capital financing and network accounting processes.

 

  • Review and critically analyze Bell Mobility fixed asset balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Participate in Capital Project Governance calls and provide accounting classification guidance
  • Monthly approval of journal entries
  • Depreciation forecast and monthly variance analysis
  • Capital lease governance and approvals
  • Monitoring project status
  • Recommending appropriate accounting recognition for significant asset disposals
  • Revenue Recognition for large corporate and government contracts
  • Provide input on special projects as required and assist in the implementation of accounting and/or process change

 

Critical Qualifications:

  • University education in a business/accounting related discipline
  • CPA, CA professional designation
  • 3+ years work experience (preferably at a large public accounting firm)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with various cross-functional groups and management levels
  • Experience with practical application of IFRS accounting principles that combines strong core technical knowledge, an ability to identify key risks and control gaps, industry specific knowledge, and a passion to understand business and financial processes
  • Strong analytical, organization and problem solving skills – ability to interpret quantitative analysis in the context of the business
  • Results oriented with the ability to prioritize and consistently deliver on time with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong proficiency in MS applications including Excel, Access, Word

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP, BW,  PEATS, JESS & Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Bell Finance procedures and systems
  • Experience in Telecom industry and knowledge of Bell products
