Technical Director, Full-time

Bell Media Vancouver

             

Location: Vancouver, BC

Salary: Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, shift work required.  Additional overtime hours as needed.

              

Responsibilities:             

  • Responsible for the on-air presentation and technical preparation as well as set up of news broadcasts.
  • Reports the Studio Supervisor and works closely with directors, and technical operators as well as engineering and operational staff.
  • Provides knowledge and expertise in the operational ability of switchers, digital effects, intercom, video and router systems.
  • Switching of live news programming, specific knowledge of Videotek/Harris VTM, Probel Router Control Panel, RTS Intercom Panel,
  • Ross Video Switcher, SMS Video Server.
  • Monitor the quality and integrity of incoming and on air signals / integration of external devices and their operations.
  • Remote set up experiences and understanding of the facilities required to carry out each broadcast and ability to quickly assess and deal with problems as they arise.
  • Supervising crew members when required and ensuring crew members are prepared for each broadcast.
     

Qualifications:  

  • Minimum of 3 years live broadcast experience combined with appropriate education
  • Production, operational and technical performance capabilities of broadcast equipment with a knowledge of industry technical standards and regulations.
  • A motivated self starter who is able to work unsupervised in a fast paced “live” newscast oriented technical environment, adapting to last minute changes, excelling under pressure and tight time factors.
  • Troubleshooting skills – ability to problem solve during technical breakdowns or difficulties.
  • High Definition technical knowledge a must.
