Responsibilities:
•Prepares, sets up, installs, operates and monitors equipment, automation systems and technical apparatus
•Maintains equipment, software and technical apparatus in a state suitable and available for use by ensuring their proper operating condition
•Monitors and controls audio and video signals of various types, ensuring adherence to approved technical standards and reports errors, faults or deviations and books feeds and satellites
•In the case of technical or program failure, makes substitutions or adjustments as necessary to maintain continuous service
•Assists broadcast personnel in solving problems
•Advises on the needs and requirements of technical operations in terms of equipment, facilities and personnel
•Coordinates activities regarding program delivery and presentation
•Informs producer, talent and crew of any significant new developments or changes in show
•Operates switching equipment to select shots, inputs and effects.
•Operates automated studio camera equipment
•Organizes and rehearse all elements of the program to ensure talent and crew are fully prepared
•Constructs and maintains computerized program presentation database and operates program presentation equipment
•Orders broadcast lines and satellites, coordinates remotes with technical staff as required
•Ensures that all items to be used in the program are prepared to defined standards
•Provides talent and crew with clear direction during the program
•Tunes in Satellite and MW Feeds
•Assists with editing and VTR/ingesting
•Other duties as required
Qualifications:
•Experience in a TV production/studio environment
•Advanced knowledge of digital editing software
•Experience with Ross Vision Switcher, Ross OverDrive Automation, Harris Nexio System, Philips Venus Router, Harris Inscriber Character Generator and Avid iNews
•Robotics, Camera Control and adjustments, Audio, (ie. Microphones, audioboards, digicart, IFB, intercoms)
•Working knowledge of studio lighting
•Ability to coordinate, lead and direct staff
•Excellent communication and time management skills
•Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and meet deadlines
Salary: In accordance with collective agreement – Unifor Local 715M
