The Information Technology team develops and maintains Bell’s internal systems and applications while also developing integrated technology solutions for customers across all lines of business.
The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including mission critical billing and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives.
Bell Information Technology – Digital Customer Experience team (DCX) is responsible for the delivery of web and mobile based self serve applications that serve wireless, residential and business markets. Bell.ca, Virginmobile.ca, Solo.ca, mybellmobile and BCE.ca are key sites that are supported.
Position Overview:
Manages development of website infrastructure, platforms, databases, and systems that support the delivery of Bell’s customer facing web based self serve applications.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages the day to day activities of a team of team members and vendors that are responsible for web and mobile delivery with the DCX team
- Builds, mentors and manages web development team
- Guides team in system architecture, design, development, troubleshooting and selection of tools and technology
- Leads the development of application and services that meet the specified business requirements
- Ensures that detailed technical specifications are produced, published and maintained following the DCX application life cycle
- Ensures that development project plans for each project are produced and integrated into the master project plan
- Ensures quality of produced code by thorough testing and code-review and that application perform as expected and have maximum availability
- Ensures that application code and processes are well documented
- Manage the technical execution of online projects and works with projects teams both within IT and in other departments
- Communicates directly with IT group on project and operational issues such as application release requirements including infrastructure requirements and configuration changes
Education, Experience and Technical Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 4 - 6 years of programming and design experience; 2 years supervisory experience
- Exposure to a large variety of technologies, protocols, languages, technics and design patterns, including knowledge of Microsoft .net, JAVA, Internet technologies, HTML, AJAX, XML,CSS, Sencha as well as security techniques and web server familiarity
- Must have thorough understanding of development processes including agile development methodologies, must understand and leverage Global Delivery Model
- Project management and tracking software skills
