Position: Reporter
Location: CTV Winnipeg
Salary: CEP Local 816M - Group 13. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required.
Responsibilities: To work in the CTV Winnipeg Newsroom as a general assignment reporter.
Responsibilities include:
• Generating original story ideas for on-air and on-line presentation
• Interviewing story subjects
• Story writing and voicing
• Live reporting
• Producing on-air and on-line and anchoring as required
• Contributing scripts, video and pictures to the station’s on-line content
• Contribute to the station’s ongoing diversity initiatives, and actively reflect the diversity of the Manitoban community in daily news coverage
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• A degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary broadcast program
• At least three years’ experience in a television news reporting role
• Demonstrated excellence in storytelling and strong presentation skills
• Solid knowledge of broadcast law
• In-depth knowledge of news and current affairs at the regional, provincial and national level
• Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work unsupervised and make quick decisions
• Possess strong news and editorial judgment along with a proven ability to use sound and pictures to help tell the story
• Must be well versed in a variety of computer programs as well as having a familiarity with the Internet and social media; previous experience with iNews an asset
• Experience in live at the scene reporting
• Ability to anchor an asset
• Ability to produce an asset
• Familiarity with Canadian Press Style Guide and asset
• Have a demonstrated ability to work in a deadline driven team environment
• Ability to deal with new and emerging technology
• Must have and maintain valid documents required for travel to the United States
• Must possess a valid Class 5 or equivalent driver’s licence
