Our Network team plans, designs, builds and operates Bell’s multi-billion dollar networks, including the continued expansion of our fibre optic network, HSPA+ and LTE —  Canada’s largest and fastest wireless network.

Member of the Technology Development department, the Network Planning, Capacity Management and Delivery team is responsible for the Voice Wireline Network across Canada, US, and Internationally.  This team is involved with New Product and Technology Introduction as well as the transformation of the legacy PSTN to its replacement technology.  This team is accountable for designing the architecture for our legacy switches and determining the architecture to enable the transition to our VoIP technology. In addition to design, this team determines the capacity required and co-ordinates the implementation of the network from triggering the required equipment, determining the logical configuration, and coordinating the network build and traffic migration.

 

The successful candidate will be accountable for designing, servicing, and implementing the architecture for third party carriers and independent telephone companies as we transition to IP.  They will be responsible for integrating the recently acquired Independents into the Network Planning organization.   The candidate will also partner with the Numbering Network Planner to provide support and back-up.  As part of this role, the successful candidate will plan relief strategies for NXX’s that are forecasted to exhaust and plan/implement new NPA’s across Canada.  This candidate will work closely with the Canadian Numbering Association, and Regulatory.

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

  • PC Expertise in Windows, MS Office XP
  • Especially Excel and Access
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Self motivated and self-reliant.  Comfortable leading in an unstructured, dynamic environment
  • Speed/Responsiveness
  • Technical aptitude & learning ability
  • Customer-focused
  • General knowledge in telecommunication and telephony

 

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Degree in software, electrical engineering or computer programming
  • CCNA Certified
  • Bilingual (French and English) to communicate effectively with QR counterparts
  • Knowledge of the processes, systems, and methods of network provisioning
