The Information Technology team develops and maintains Bell’s internal systems and applications while also developing integrated technology solutions for customers across all lines of business.
The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including mission critical billing and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives.
Bell Canada Voice Networks Services and Support is looking for a highly motivated and energetic person to fill the role of Manager, NGN/VoIP & Emerging Technologies. VNSS is a dynamic environment with primary responsibility for the testing, installation and support of legacy voice, VoIP and other next generation voice systems and services. Our highly qualified team of system and application verification and support primes utilize a state of the art, one of a kind lab facility consisting of fully captive PSTN and VoIP networks.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for the design, implementation, maintenance and support of the network and computing infrastructure for the VNSS NGN / VoIP lab facility. This involves collaborating with both internal and external partners in order to ensure that the infrastructure suits project and support needs. It also includes continuous lifecycle/maintenance activities of the lab platforms when required. Additionally, as part of the lab service assurance team you will also be accountable for testing, verification and troubleshooting new VoIP components and applications. Teamwork is extremely important in VNSS and will be an integral part of all activities!

- Must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines, as well as looking for ways to constantly improve on day to day activities within the Operations district (moved it up from Preferred to critical)
- Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
- Ability to communicate with non-technical resources as much as highly technical individuals
- Knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Unix
- Knowledge of IP network infrastructure, protocols and design such as VLANs, Trunking, SIP trunking, Route Policies, Access Lists, Quality of Service and TCP / UDP
- Exposure to security and firewall policy management including NAT and NAPT
Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
- Experience in trouble shooting IP networks
- Experience with Firewalls and Cisco/Juniper routers
- Familiar with Broadsoft (UC complex), Acme platforms (SBC), Genband, Alcatel/Huawei (ONTs)
- Familiar with Volte/IMS
- Experience in the use of Wireshark or other analyzing tools for troubleshooting complex network issues
- VoIP protocol knowledge such as SIP and SDP
- Quick, Quality decision making (particularly in highly stressful situations)
- Multi-Tasking; Manage several tasks at once by prioritizing and taking appropriate control of any given situation
- Ability to produce comprehensive documentation to support testing activities and development
Working Conditions:
Generally Monday to Friday, flex daytime but may be required to work off normal hours for on site or remote support of production installations. Majority of time onsite/lab, with occasional opportunities for remote. May be required to provide off normal (pager) support on a rotational basis.
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
