Position: Bench Carpenter (Unifor Local 79M)
Location: 9 Channel Nine Court, Toronto (Ontario)
Salary: Group 4 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Involve shift work and overtime as required.
Responsibilities:
- Produce carpentry products and services by following standards and procedures
- Responsible for daily preparation and maintenance of studio sets and requirements
- Set up and tear down of smaller production sets and meeting requirements
- Maintenance of Carpentry Shop and materials
- Fabricating, constructing and repairing structural woodwork and wood products using sketches and building plans
- Constructing, repairing and installing structures or fixtures
- WHMIS training, Fall Arrest training and Forklift Operation is an asset
- Ensure all existing studio sets are maintained and in excellent presentation condition.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 yrs. experience in a custom wood working environment
- Set up and operation of machinery for carpentry work
- Strong ability to interpret drawings
- Previous experience in a production or broadcast environment
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to follow project schedules to ensure completion in a timely manner
- Ability to handle large volume of tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
