Name and description of the service:
The student will be part of the IT L1 / L2 operational teams that support Northern Ontario. The candidate will be required to provide phone / remote support for internal and external customers, and as required may be assigned to internal / external onsite support roles
Tasks/responsibilities:
- Provide support, and resolve problems to the client’s satisfaction
- Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to client requests
- Utilize and maintain the helpdesk system by entering and updating service tickets
- Keep documentation and inventories updated – onsite and in the helpdesk system
- Assist with onboarding new users at client sites
- Install, configure and test new workstations, peripheral equipment, and software/device drivers
- Assist users with software feature/usage questions, as well as software troubleshooting
- Manage Active Directory records
- Perform timely hardware and software upgrades as required
- To carry out the prioritization of the projects, in collaboration with other operational team members
- To act as a support resource for people of the operational teams
Essential competences/skills:
- Solids aptitudes for the verbal and written communication
- Great tolerance with ambiguity.
- Effective techniques for resolution of problems.
- Autonomous and show a great sense of initiative and organization
- Ability to work in a detail-oriented fashion without losing sight of the overall picture
- Continuing Post-Secondary education in Computer Science, or related IT program
- Experience working in fast paced environment
