Our Network team plans, designs, builds and operates Bell’s multi-billion dollar networks, including the continued expansion of our fibre optic network, HSPA+ and LTE —  Canada’s largest and fastest wireless network.

The Network Planning district within Bell Canada’s Network Technology and Planning department is committed to providing proactive, cost efficient solutions in order to build and maintain a leading edge technology network.

 

The Broadband and IP Planning team is responsible for the investments and directives of Bell Canada’s Broadband Ethernet and IP Edge networks.  This team is responsible for all New Technology Introduction, Marketing and Lifecycle initiatives. The team is an integral part of planning all services offered by Bell Canada such as; Ethernet, IPVPN, Fiber-To-The-Home, FibeTV, Internet, VoIP and Mobility (HSPA+/LTE) backhaul. In addition to this, we also support customer bid responses, working closely with Bell’s business markets.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing integrated network plans to meet  Bell Canada’s emerging services and network vision. Specifics include:

  • Develop plans to support next generation and legacy networks, documenting guidelines and investment requirements
  • Develop innovative and cost effective solutions for Bell and our customers working jointly with key partners
  • Integrate requirements from different technology domains to define complete deployment programs
  • Communicate plans for Network evolution to Network Planning and Provisioning, Technology, Operations, and Market segment teams
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide cost estimates to Marketing and Account teams for customer bid responses
  • Support the Capacity Management in the growth of our networks ensuring optimal use of capital and resources while maintaining capital intensity targets

 

Critical Competencies:

  • The successful candidate must have:  
  • Bachelor's degree in the area of Engineering, Networking, Math, or Computer Science
  • Above average knowledge and proven ability to work with Bell’s services and networks (Good overview of all network architectures, protocols and technologies in the access, transport, broadband, IP, switching, application domains)
  • Strong technical abilities and a quick learner
  • Strong Business Acumen
  • Excellent ability to develop complex spreadsheets and databases
  • Excellent ability to grasp or already have a grasp of these IP concepts, routing, and protocols such as; as TCP,OSPF, BGP, MPLS/LDP, EoMPLS, VoIP protocols, 6PE/6VPE(IPv6), BFD, QOS Policies etc.
  • Excellent presentation skills and a proven ability to communicate complex network plans to audiences with various technical backgrounds
  • A demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships and client relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to exercise independent judgment

 

Preferred Competencies:

  • Experience in design and trouble-shooting IP and Ethernet networks
  • Cisco/Juniper/ALU certification an asset
  • Knowledge of Mobility CDMA/HSPA+/LTE infrastructure and MSO connectivity
  • Multi-Tasking; manage several tasks at once by prioritizing and taking appropriate control of any given situation
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with minimal supervision

 

Working Conditions:

Generally Monday to Friday, a 37.5 hour week.  Work start and finish times are flexible. Some overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines.  

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
