The Information Technology team develops and maintains Bell’s internal systems and applications while also developing integrated technology solutions for customers across all lines of business.

The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including mission critical billing and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives.

 

The Bell Canada Information Technology Delivery Team is looking for a Senior Technical Architect to lead the Technology Architecture and Strategy for the Blueprints Program. The Blueprints Program manages and develops the workflow and diagnostic tools for call centre agents and field technicians.  Through multiple backend integrations, it automates the collection and interpretation of customer data and offers actionable recommendations in both desktop and mobile web applications to ensure a consistent and structured call flow.

 

The successful candidate will directly support the end to end program partnering with the Program Manager and working with a team of IT business analysts, contractors and developers.  They will partner with other IT teams such as Planning, Architecture, Infrastructure, etc for project deployments and further development of the application, and conceptual solutions reviews. The candidate will be accountable to work with external vendors, internal development teams and internal business analysts. We require a highly motivated individual, who thrives in a constantly changing and exciting environment, to apply creativity and innovation in the development of solutions essential to support our overall Call Centre divisions, and is able to able to lead change through cross-functional teams or business unit projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Technical Architect role is a highly specialized role that supports the delivery of the most technically challenging projects our organization is asked to work on.
  • Senior Technical Architect is the design authority in term of hardware/software selection, application architecture, security & network requirements, specification and design review and implementation.
  • Working within team of various projects, the Senior Technical Architect will be responsible to ensure all technical aspects are answered and addressed.
  • Participate in the planning (conceptual solution review) and early design sessions of new project functionality
  • Participate in system requirements specification phase in order to assess the impacts to the service assurance domain, following the implementation/introduction of a given network technology
  • Actively participate in the design and the implementation phases (including design reviews, environment setup), quantitative analysis (validation of algorithm/solution)
  • Capacity planning and definition of the performance testing plan and oversee the execution of the performance testing
  • Develop, implement and review non functional, performance related requirements and tracking to produce system performance metrics. 

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Training/Education
  • Bachelor or Master Degree
  • Equivalent experience and / or education
  • Technology
  • .NET Application framework
  • Java/JEE Application servers
  • BMC Remedy
  • Oracle (9i/10g/11g) + Dataguard
  • Clustering, high-availability & DRP (planning and execution)
  • Administration of multi-tier & complex environments
  • Citrix software and infrastructure
  • OS (UNIX –Solaris/HPUX/Linux (mainly), Windows (optional))

 

Programming and markup languages (mandatory)

  • Web Services / SOA, N-Tier Architectures
  • Any procedural language (C, Perl, PHP, Shell, AWK, Expect, TK, etc)
  • Enterprise application frameworks (Java EE, ESB, .NET, etc)
  • Any OO language (Java- mainly, C/C++ an asset, Javascript, Python, etc)
  • Any markup language (HTML + CSS, XML, SGML, etc)
  • Databases (preferred)
  • Any RDBMS (Oracle - primarily, MySQL, SQL Server, Teradata, etc)
  • Experience building/using SQL, PL/SQL, ETL
  • General understanding of industry standards of IT, such as TOGAF, ETOM and TMF models (preferred)
  • Knowledge of IP stacks and protocol analysis tools.
  • General understanding of network protocols, including TCP, IP, SNMP (preferred)
  • Network architecture concepts such as NML, MPLS, ICN, DMZ (definite asset)
