Includes corporate and operational finance, internal teams support, the controllers group, internal audit and risk advisory services, taxation, treasury, corporate strategy and mergers and acquisitions.

 

The Accounting Policies & Corporate Transactions team is part of the BCE/Bell Canada Corporate Controller group. Our main responsibilities include the interpretation, application and development of accounting policies and guidelines, the monitoring of new and emerging IFRS standards, working with various business units, and participation in major transactions, including M&A transactions. We also are responsible for the accounting for share-based payment arrangements, hedging relationships and restructuring initiatives.

 

Job Description:

Highly versatile and challenging position that combines the elements of corporate accounting, financial reporting, accounting policies and special projects:

  • Management and support of BCE’s restructuring charges and provisions, including review and approval of restructuring business cases
  • Involves related financial reporting to various teams and notes to financial statements, budgeting and forecasting
  • Review of transaction and integration costs related to M&A projects
  • Accounting for available for sale investments: analysis and OCI provisioning
  • Assistance in month end processes (i.e. preparation and approval of journal entries)
  • External reporting support
  • Communication with external auditors

 

May also include:

  • Interpretation and application of existing accounting policies and guidelines
  • Monitoring new and emerging IFRS standards and their impact on BCE
  • Direct participation in major transactions and recommending appropriate accounting treatment
  • Accounting for share-based payment arrangements and hedging relationships
  • Maintenance of Chart of Accounts

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

  • CPA, CA designation with a minimum of 4 years relevant work experience
  • Good knowledge of IFRS
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, in French and English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with senior management and other members of the team in a professional and efficient manner
  • Ability to work within a team and manage tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills, reliable, autonomous and ability to prioritize multiple requests
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of SAP would be an asset
