Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Operational Support Systems (OSS), within the Wireless Network group, the Senior Manager, Technical Architecture, OSS, will lead a team of highly skilled architects. This team is responsible for the architecture and planning of hardware, data and OSS applications & solutions supporting Bell’s wireless network teams. The Planning and Architecture (P&A) team is also accountable for setting appropriate technology standards and architectural principles, developing high level solution designs. In addition, the P&A team develops mid and long term strategy and solution roadmaps required to meet OSS mandate and establish yearly IT deployment programs and associated capital budgets.
Critical Competencies:
- University Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or extensive working experience in an associated field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of IT/Telecom system architecture is required.
- Strong leadership abilities. Capable of juggling multiple conflicting requirements and priorities; able to take difficult decisions while gaining support from business partners he/she supports.
- Strong coaching skills as demonstrated by a vast experience in a highly skilled IT professional environment. Abilities to motivate and develop IT professionals.
- Strong execution and project management skills. Once decisions are made, sets up clear goal for his team. Follows trough and ensures that project are delivered on time, on budget with the necessary functionality.
- Extensive technical depth and breadth and desire to stay up to date with the latest technical and industry developments.
- Able to think strategically and outline overall OSS technology strategy in support of the business and execute tactically to achieve results.
- Must be customer oriented. Willing to listen to the needs of the organization to provide solutions which add value to our business partners’ processes
- Ability to provide balance the constraints of IT requirements and practical requirements of a wireless telecom environment.
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with vendors.
- Must be autonomous and self motivated.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred Competencies:
- Previous experience in managing teams of IT professionals within the telecommunication industry, preferably in wireless.
- Experience in project management using the agile/Scrum approach.
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
