Position: News Promotion Writer / Producer
Location: CTV - Winnipeg
Salary: C.E.P. Local 816M, Group IV. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week. Overtime as required.
Responsibilities:
• In collaboration with the News Editorial team, write and produce daily news topicals to promote the news of the day
• Quickly turn around compelling breaking news promos as needed
• Responsible for the production of all news promotion, ratings promotion and some news image promotion.
• Actively participate in regular daily story meetings, line-up meetings and weekly news and promotion planning meetings
• Coordinate talent and resources for on-air, online and promotions shoots as required
• Write, produce and facilitate the distribution of web, radio and print content as necessary
• Act as back-up to other Writer/Producers as needed
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• A degree or diploma from a post-secondary broadcast, creative communications, or related program
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in promotion production
• Previous experience in a working newsroom preferred
• Demonstrated talent for effective promotion writing and producing in a visual medium
• Genuine interest in news
• Proven ability to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities
• Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to effectively direct and coordinate on-air talent and/or clients to ensure efficient use of production resources
• Knowledge of broadcast law an asset
• Experience operating iNews an asset
• Experience with non-linear editing and shooting is an asset
• Demonstrated desire to work productively as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills
• Must possess a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license
