Position:  Managing Editor
Location: CTV Winnipeg
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, with overtime as required.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the News Director, this position is responsible for the daily management of the editorial team in the News Department and ensuring high quality news content across all platforms and related programming.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Determining the editorial direction for News Programming in step with News Director
• Develop and manage workflows to deliver news content for all platforms
• Recruitment and selection of staff
• Managerial administrative functions including employee relations and approving and assigning vacation
• Performance evaluation of news staff in consultation with News Director
• Coach employees to enhance their performance and help them achieve their professional goals
• Providing daily direction to reporters on story development, structure and scripting
• Support digital content by growing  online publishing and social media presence
• Late afternoon assignment desk
• Providing direction in the organization of live hits and news specials
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 
• Graduate of an accredited post-secondary broadcast or journalism program or equivalent
• Minimum of seven years’ experience in television reporting, producing or digital/print reporting
• Demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness
• Solid editorial judgment, superior organizational skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure
• Must be a leader with the effective communication and interpersonal skills required to build and lead a team, motivate staff and personally set the highest professional journalistic standards
• In-depth knowledge of local, national and international news as well as current affairs and lifestyle trends
• Basic knowledge of desktop publishing tools and social media integration as asset
• Solid knowledge of Broadcast Law
• Proven ability to multi-task in a newsroom environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
