Name and description of hiring department:
Reporting to the Manager – Field Services, the Field Services Specialist is responsible for the timely high quality installation, repair and maintenance of Bell's portfolio of, Data, PBX, Voice and networking products and services. The Field Services Specialist will have an ongoing interaction with the customer and consequently plays an important role in building solid and committed relationships with Bell's customers. Service technicians promote on-site sales and service and assist the customer in interfacing with Bell's departments as required. In addition to all customer premise equipment, technicians may also be involved with Central Office responsibilities.
Job Duties / Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and removal of a wide range of Data, PBX-voice, networking products and services in a timely and cost effective manner
- Establishes a positive relationship with customers in order to secure loyalty to Bell as well as providing interim customer training on products and services
- Must be a team player with the ability to learn from and share knowledge with others
- Will be required to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as well as participating in on-call off-hour service demands
- Works as a member of the implementation team when turning up new services or expanding existing services
- Able to work independently
- Capable of working physically demanding tasks, which involve lifting, carrying and climbing
Essential Qualifications / Competencies:
- Degree or Diploma in Telecommunications, or a related technology, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience
- Excellent analytical skills to identify potential and existing problems with products and services
- Skilled in the use of various Digital, IP, and Analogue test equipment
- Experience with Internetworking/Data and VoIP technologies
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications / Competencies:
- Trained or certified in one or more of the following Cisco skill paths: CCENT, CCNA, CCIE voice or CCIE data
- Experience with routers, switches, ADSL modems
- Experience involving Avaya/Mitel/Cisco key/PBX systems and applications
Working Conditions:
- This item is covered by the terms of the collective agreement (Unifor 950)
- Will be required to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as well as participating in on-call off-hour service demands
