Position: Automated Master Control Room Operator 1, Part Time Casual, Unifor Local 723M
Location: 299 Queen St W, Toronto (Ontario)
Salary: Group E (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Hours of Work: Part Time as needed. Rotating 12 hour shifts covering 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Management of multiple automation playlists with an immediate and direct on-air impact. This involves thoroughly checking and editing play-lists while loading on air media and simultaneously monitoring several broadcast services.
- Live On-Air switching when the need arises.
- Coordinate live satellite feeds and perform daily records.
- Digitization and preparation of both long and short form media for air.
- Utilize a variety of software applications to perform transcoding and media transfers.
- Perform full quality control checks of media, requiring a strong understanding of industry standards of audio tagging and aspect ratio flagging.
- Accurate reporting on daily on air reports.
Qualifications:
- 5 years previous Master Control experience in either a manual or automated master control system.
- Working knowledge of Harris or similar automation software.
- A proven track record of working with little supervision.
- The demonstrated ability to succeed in a crew environment.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure when necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask.
- Previous experience in a live broadcasting environment.
- Strong computer skills.
- Post-secondary education in broadcasting or equivalent industry experience.
