The Information Technology team develops and maintains Bell’s internal systems and applications while also developing integrated technology solutions for customers across all lines of business.

The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including mission critical billing and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives.

The Information Technology team develops and integrates solutions that provide direct services to customers all across Canada including residential and business partners. Work on cutting-edge enterprise grade solutions that include the latest technologies with best-in-class vendors (Oracle, IBM, etc). The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including Business Intelligence, Web and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives geared around new product, service and technology introductions to market.

Key Responsibilities:

The Technical Business Analyst role within the IT organization is a specialized role to support delivery of the different initiatives on the Bell Residential Services Ordering, Bell Internet and Bell TV system domains. The Technical Business Analyst is involved in every phase of the project, and also in capacity planning, hardware / software upgrades, network requirements / impacts, system specifications & design.

* Lead and participate in early design sessions, working closely with multiple vendors
* Participate in code reviews and work with other BA’s and vendor teams to ensure solutions matches the future mode of operation
* Oversee and assist the vendors and project team in all test phases (System testing, functional testing etc.)
* Participate in deployment strategy
* Build presentations & communicate the release changes (technical) to the support teams
* Occasional assistance to the production support teams to resolve production issues

Required Competencies:

* Bachelor’s level degree in Information technology, Computer science, Software engineering, or Computer engineering, completed by the position start date
* General understanding of IT standards, network concepts (OSI model, basic network principles, etc.), and hardware / hosting platforms
* Good knowledge of software architecture patterns & practices
* Strong analytical, technical writing and problem solving skills
* Proven leadership skills including project examples
* Excellent ability to articulate ideas and articulate technical problems to a non-technical audience
* Autonomous, tolerance to a fast paced / fast changing environment
* Strong team player; ability to facilitate, negotiate and work within a multi-domain team environment
* Quick learning skills; strong desire to learn
* Creativity and ingenuity: needs to have the drive and passion to make the team successful
* Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset

Software knowledge:

* Operating System (Unix/Linux/Windows)
* Java/J2EE Application servers (Weblogic, WebSphere, JBoss, etc.)
* Java enterprise application frameworks
* Web Services / SOA, N-Tier Architectures

Development knowledge:

* Java / J2EE - (Preferred)
* XML / SOAP XML / XSLT / XQuery
* C# / .Net
* C / C++
* Database knowledge
* Oracle PL/SQL, SQL
* Microsoft SQL Server

Preferred competencies:

* Experience in a similar environment through co-op terms or summer jobs
* Previous knowledge of the telecommunications industry
* Familiarity with programming languages is highly recommended
