Bell Business Markets provides a vast array of communications solutions for small, medium, and large organizations. These include managed data and network solutions, cloud computing, conferencing, Web, security solutions and integrated information and communications technology (ICT) services.
The Bell IT team is looking for a Business Solutions Architect. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager of Business Solutions Architecture and will work alongside IT staff (Directors, Project Managers, Business Analysts) and business stakeholders as well as external vendors such as CGI and IBM. We require highly motivated individuals who thrive in a constantly changing and exciting environment, to apply creativity and innovation in the development of solutions essential to support Bell’s current & future success.
Job duties / accountabilities:
* Needs to communicate technical and business solutions with extreme clarity with various parties including Project Managers, Developers, Business Stakeholders, IT Architects, Business Analysts, Vendors (such as CGI, IBM)
* Is responsible for analyzing business requirements for clarity and completeness for the purposes of developing IT conceptual solutions
* Is responsible for developing IT conceptual solutions which illustrate the impact of the of the business requirements on the current architecture
* Is responsible for gathering and presenting IT conceptual solution assessments (costs will be obtained from vendor teams)
* Involved in reviewing key development and design deliverables, including interface specifications, integration requirements, data schemas, and design documentation, as well as the business’s implementation and conversion strategies and plans.
* Manage the Bell TV Architecture Repository/Inventory of assets (web services, applications, databases, etc..)
* Often involved in modifying or adapting existing designs
* Provides suggestions on how to improve the existing architecture by providing input to architecture roadmaps
* Acts as an advocate for the client as the ultimate authority on the architecture designed to address client business problems. Provides direction for design activities.
Essential Skills / Competencies:
* Post secondary computer science degree/engineering degree with a business focus, or equivalent, and/or business degree with a computer science focus, as well as 2+ years in a Business/Systems Analyst role
* Related work experience is essential and should include experience in process modeling as well as experience with multi-tiered application development, infrastructure and networking concepts and practices
* Related experience as a Programmer/Designer
* An understanding of business/systems process design
* Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary JAD sessions
* Significant experience dealing with multiple vendors in the creation of end to end solutions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
* Absolute ability to see the business problem and business solution in the eyes of the customer
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Powerpoint, Excel, Visio)
Preferred Skills /Competencies:
* Understanding of telecommunications, infrastructure, Database Software, billing and / or customer care applications/software.
* Strong analytical thinker
* Customer centric problem solver
* Autonomous yet able to work in focused teams
* High tolerance to ambiguity
* Detail oriented
* UML, SDLC
