The Bell Residential Services team is in the business of enabling customers to connect with people, information and entertainment by delivering integrated products and service experience for consumers while enhancing our competitiveness in the marketplace.  The team provides customers with Bell Home phone, local and long distance services, Bell Internet, Bell Satellite TV and amazing new technologies such as Bell Fibe TV.

 

 

Position Description:

The Lead Business Analyst Data Mining is responsible for requirements gathering, data mining, analysis and presentation of results, driven by project related activities. This person is equally responsible for acting as the business case and project governance prime for assigned projects within the Ordering and Billing program.

 

 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Data Requirements Gathering and Data Mining:
  • Understanding user requirements and fulfilling requests for statistical information on BRS products and services in support of the project delivery process
  • Sourcing and querying data from internal data repositories
  • Preparing data and providing insight and analysis on what the data is saying
  • Business Case Preparation and Oversight:
  • Preparing a projects business case framework and understanding how benefits will be generated and tracked
  • Partnering with key stakeholder groups (e.g. Marketing, Customer Operations, Field) to solicit and then vet/scrutinize inputs to the business case
  • Obtaining benefits sign-off from key stakeholders
  • Partnering with Finance to get alignment on the business case to prepare the economic analysis
  • Data mining/analysis and presentation of trackable results
  • Project Governance Oversight:
  • Preparing gating documentation to take projects through the BRS governance process (e.g. IPC)
  • Presenting requests for funding and or status updates at governance councils

 

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Understanding and interpreting user requirements
  • Translating requirements into data points
  • Analytics/Modeling/Business Skills
  • Data mining (understanding databases, ETLs, etc...)
  • A working understanding of SQL, Teradata, Oracle, SAS
  • MS Excel expert
  • Able to simplify data complexities for the average users to understand
  • Great PowerPoint/presentation skills; ability to present to Executives in a concise manner
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and business acumen - BRS ordering and/or system knowledge an asset
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, uncertainty and changing priorities
  • Team player and ability to interact with multi-disciplinary teams and multiple projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to listen, understand, and respond both appropriately and effectively
  • A university degree in business administration, applied math, economics, or computer science or equivalent post secondary education and/or work experience

 

Essential skills / competencies:

  • A university degree in business administration, applied math, economics, or computer science and/or 2 years experience in a similar position
  • Self starter, with high degree of initiative and energy level
  • Ability to be detail oriented, analyze results, identify underlying business trends, and develop recommendations and action plans in conjunction with key stakeholders
  • Excellent multi-tasking capabilities and ability to deal with tight deadlines and a quickly changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Autonomous, but also a team player

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of PEATS and internal Bell Policies.
  • Ability to efficiently work in virtual teams, handling multiple projects and aggressive timelines
  • Fast paced, changing working environment, interfacing with a myriad of stakeholders
